These yew trees were to be transported completely unsecured and disposed of just before Christmas. They were six meters high and a little wider than the truck. They do not represent any great value, as it is not intended to re-plant them. Instead, they are destined for the compost heap. Securing the load was not seen as being particularly important. To be precise, no measures whatsoever were taken.
Even if bushes and trees are being taken to the compost heap, they still have to be loaded and secured like any other kind of load. And it is crucial to ensure that the load does not exceed the dimensions of the vehicle. And that also applies to the two meters by which the vehicle exceeds the permitted height. The next set of traffic signals will undoubtedly be grateful.
